Support for Schools
Read, Rise and Shine is committed to providing libraries for elementary classrooms with books incorporating themes of kindness and compassion. Our “Sowing Seeds of Kindness 2024” aims to provide 5-6 carefully curated age-appropriate books to every classroom at Mathews Elementary School in Mathews County, VA. Our goal is to expand this program to more elementary schools in Virginia in the coming years.
Help for Health
Read, Rise and Shine is committed to providing book carts and carefully selected books and other reading materials to medical facilities including state and local mental health institutions, veteran’s hospitals, and pediatric dental and pediatrics offices. To date, Read, Rise and Shine has supplied six book carts to state mental hospitals and VA hospitals and over 1500 books to the same.
Cards for Comfort
To date, Read Rise and Shine has gifted over 5000 handwritten greeting cards to patients, residents, and staff to veteran’s hospitals, mental health facilities and nursing homes in Virginia. The cards offer the recipients compassion, love, and remembrance.
